04.04.05 Colombians Conquer All Once Again

Despite allowing someone else to win the first half of the league, then not walking away with the playoff as they could easily have done, even not bothering to score in extra time and Cairnsy deliberately missing his penalty flick (it must have been deliberate, it was that bad!) the Colombians have once again won the Guernsey League making it a triple crown of triumphs.

The Colombians would just like to thank Jim Gilligan for bottling it on the last penalty flick and bring on the Crapuads in the Upton!

21.01.05 Colombians Sign New Star Player

The rumours on the forum have proved correct. The Colombians have pulled off the coup of the season by signing young Kevan Ward.

In order to give the lad some experience he will be starting out in the second team but he will no doubt be blooded by the first team should he continue his good form and demonstrate he can keep a lid of his flammable temperament.

10.09.04 Big changes for 2004/5

Having won every trophy there is to win in 2003/4 Guernsey Hockey has made all sorts of changes to try stop the Colombian domination.

As a result the Colombian 2's will be replacing the Youth in Division One, playing under the banner of the Rebel Alliance.

Remnants of the Youth and some new Colombians will form the Colombian second team in Division Two as we continue to introduce new players to hockey, new players which form the life blood of the association, which once again proves that without the Colombians there would simply be no hockey on the island.

12.04.04 Colombians Nominated For Team of the Year

The Colombians have done the impossible and managed to get hockey recognised by the Channel Island sports community by being nominated for the Sports Council Team of the Year award.

Of course we never stood a chance of winning after the activities of the womens basketball team both on and off the court (i always wondered why Stuart Falla seemed to have so much to smile about).

19.11.03 Colombians Channel Island Champions 2003!

The Colombians traveled to crapaudland for the Channel Island Club Championships and despite missing 7 first team players displayed their strength in depth by remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament to bring the trophy back to Guernsey.

A match report of the high tense final, penned by Hunny Bunny, can be be read here.

19.8.03    The local hockey scene has been deteriorating gently over the last few years and it appeared as though there would only be 4 sides in Division 1 for the 2003/4 season.

However, the Colombians have stepped in and resolved to relieve this situation by creating a new team. So, added to the Colombian 1st and 2nd teams is now the Colombian Youth. The side will use up and coming under 21 players from the around the island, combined with a few of the more experienced Colombians to boost the number of teams in Division 1.

14.8.03     Big News for the Colombian website. Ad Norman did an excellent job setting the site up but hasn't got the time to regularly update it. Therefore, your local friendly Magpie has thieved it and you should start to see changes shortly.

If anyone has any decent photos for the site then please send them to me, try to keep them fairly small because we've only got limited webspace. Also, many of the player profiles need more info on them so feel free to write some insults about any of your fellow Colombians and send them to me at jaketheshed@hotmail.com

28.3.02    The Colombians are pleased to announce the signings of Matthew Watson, Chris Harvey and Mark Ball for the 2002/03 season.

Matthew Watson, an all round midfielder, has already represented Guernsey at senior level and is currently representing the West of England.

Chris Harvey is an enterprising right half whilst Mark Ball is a defensive utility player.

All players have been signed from Elizabeth College , Guernsey .

08.02.02

The signing of Amed Mansoor has fallen through but Colombians are currently in negotiations with another promising Pakistani Junior International - Naveed Ulhaq. Watch this space.

19.12.01    Ollie Goddard sensationally announces that Colombians Hockey are negotiating to sign a promising Pakistan player for the 2002/03 season.  The KML Hockey Club from Kamalia Region of the Punjab State in Pakistan have confirmed that one of their youngsters is set to sign for the forthcoming season.  The signing could be a “coup” for the Colombians however, it is likely that the player will leave the Colombians in March 2003 to meet up with the Pakistan Under 21 squad who will be touring the UK & Europe at the time.

Sanctioning has already been received from the relevant Pakistan hockey authorities. To quote the email to Ollie from Amer Mansoor:
